SUVs are by far the most type of vehicle and that is reflected in the sales numbers. The segment covers light, small, medium, large and upper large with prices ranging from below $45k to in excess of $120K.
In February, in the light and small categories, the most buyers got the keys to Mazda CX3, Toyota Yaris Cross, Kia Stonic, MG ZS, Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross, Haval Jolion, Volvo XC40, Audi Q3 and Kia Niro.
If considering an under $60K model, the Mazda CX5 sold the most units, slightly ahead of the Mitsubishi Outlander and Toyota RAV4. In the over $60k segment the top sales were from the Tesla Model Y, Audi Q5 and Lexus NX.
The biggest sales for large SUVs below $70k were for the Subaru Outback, Isuzu MUX and Toyota Prado. Over the $70k, the best sellers were Mercedes GLE, BMW X5 and Audi Q7. The upper large are the serious off-road and similar vehicles with the LandCruiser, Nissan Patron, Land Rover Discover, Lexus LX, BMW X7 and Mercedes GLS dominating sales.

The ute segment is massive as it attracts both private buyers wanting a vehicle to tow boats and caravans as well as trades and other businesses. The HiLux sold most in the 4x2 category ahead of the Ranger and D-Max. In the 4x4 segment it was the Ranger in top spot, then HiLux and D-Max.
